E.J. Gold’s Jazz Art stage panels and paintings graced the performance space, Saturday, June 17, as Wynton Marsalis took the stage at the Grass Valley Veteran’s Memorial Hall in a gala concert presented by the Center for the Arts. Paintings by Kelly Rivera were also on exhibit.

My blog is dedicated to stuff about Jazz. Ravings to be precise. Writings, Art, Happenings, Music, Behind-the-scene glimpses.

I love Jazz..

So a few years ago I got the idea that it would be fun to explore the backgrounds of Jazz musicians. I started downloading new music and finding new artists, and thus began the writings - short biographies of Jazz artists. I never knew exactly what to do with these tidbits of research, until now. I decided to start blogging to share these shreds of Jazz history.

But just posting my archive seemed to be lacking. I'm also an artist, so instead, I've set out to revisit these artists one by one and - if the mood strikes - start painting. I’ll read what I’ve got, listen to some great music, and sit down and paint. It will add another layer of interest to my existing material, and best of all, it means that I have an assignment! I like giving myself assignments.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ravings..
